Driving test reverse manoeuvres
On your test you will be asked to do one of the following 4 reverse manoeuvres:
- Parallel park (also known as reverse park) – at the side of the road
- Pull up on the right – at the side of the road
- Bay park – driving in and reversing out – on public car park
- Bay park – reversing in and driving out – on test centre car park (not Wednesbury!)
The key to success on all manoeuvres is to move the car slowly and brisk (quick) steering.
If you dip your door mirrors to help you with these manoeuvres remember to put them back into driving position before driving off.
Before attempting any manoeuvre you must always ask yourself three questions. Is it safe? Is it legal? Is it convenient?
Other reverse manoeuvres
Forward manoeuvres
- Hill start and stop
- Emergency stop and skidding
- Angle start
- U-turn
- Cross dual carriageway – turn right
Driving test changed on 4 December 2017
The ‘reverse around a corner’ and ‘turn-in-the-road’ manoeuvres are no longer tested, but you should still be taught them by your instructor.
