Test day

What to bring with you to your test

Don’t forget to bring with you:

  • provisional licence
  • copy of practical test booking confirmation – an email on your phone will be accepted (this is incase there is a question about your booking)
  • theory test pass paper (you are asked to bring this, even though I’ve never known anyone actually be asked for it)
  • sensible driving shoes – the ones you are used to driving in
  • glasses/contact lenses – if you wear them

Test day fee

Test day fee is £90, which includes:

  • 1 hour lesson before your test
  • arrive at the test centre 10 minutes early
  • use of car for the duration of test
  • a lift home after the test (driving instructor drives home)

Do you want your instructor on test with you?

The examiner will ask you if you want your instructor to come with you on your test?  If you would like me to sit in the back and observe I’m always happy and keen to do this.  It is completely your choice and you must do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

Advantages:

  • If you fail your test I will know exactly how and where you made faults, so I can help you work on those learning points to prepare for your next test.

Disadvantages – of having an extra person in the car:

  • The extra weight means you will need to apply slightly more pressure to your gas and brake pedals.
  • In the winter the windows may mist up a little more.  Using the demister and opening a window prevents this.

Toilet facilities

Toilet facilities at the test centres are occasionally unavailable.  If you need to use toilet facilities prior to your test please give me plenty of notice and we can find public facilities before we arrive at the test centre.
